How to use AMHP Data

AMHP Data is the evidence observatory of the Association of Mental Health Providers. It brings together source documents, the claims and metrics drawn from them, and the organisations behind them, so that members, partners and the public can see the evidence about mental health provision across the UK in one place.

Explore the evidence

The evidence browser lists source documents, evidence claims and metrics. Choose the kind of evidence at the top, then narrow the list by document type, jurisdiction, topic, organisation or year. Metrics can also be filtered by category, NHS region, integrated care board and local authority. Open a document to read its description, approved summaries, claims and metrics, and to follow the link to the original source where one is available.

Ask the evidence

Signed-in users can put a question to the evidence base in plain English. The assistant answers only from documents available at your access level and marks every statement with a numbered citation that you can expand to read the source excerpt. If the documents do not contain an answer, it says so rather than guessing. The assistant is an evidence service, not a helpline, and does not give clinical, legal or crisis advice.

Organisations and sources

The organisations directory lists providers, regulators, government bodies and publishers whose evidence is held in the observatory, with the documents linked to each. The sources page shows where the evidence comes from and how the observatory is growing: documents added, categories, the sources feeding it, evidence metrics, visitors and registrations.

Registration and member access

Anyone can create an account with an e-mail address. Once an administrator has confirmed your account you can sign in and use Ask the evidence. If your organisation is a member of the Association, request member access from My account; an administrator reviews the request and, when approved, your account gains access to member-only evidence.

Data and licences

Every document carries its licence (for example the Open Government Licence or a Creative Commons licence) and its jurisdiction. Material licensed for non-commercial or evaluation use only is never used to answer questions. Claims and metrics are extracted from documents by AMHP's tooling and reviewed by administrators before they appear here.
