About the data
AMHP Data continues the Association’s Data Observatory. The previous observatory ran on Google Workspace and Google Cloud; this one runs on the Association’s own infrastructure, with the same purpose: to hold the evidence about mental health provision in one place, with its provenance, and to make it searchable and citable.
Where the previous observatory stood on 11 September 2026
The figures below are the baseline recorded from the previous Insight dashboard on the day the archive was taken. They describe that system’s counting method, in which every extracted data point counted as an “evidence observation”.
| Measure | Value |
|---|---|
| Evidence observations | 2,724,081 |
| Source documents | 53 |
| Evidence owners (organisations) | 20 |
| Issue categories | 11 |
The dashboard’s “Mental health sector pressures” view ranked the categories with the most evidence as: finance and funding (about 2,100 points), services and delivery (about 1,350), access and waiting times (about 1,150), workforce (about 1,050), followed by mortality and safety, policy and strategy, and governance and accountability.
How this observatory counts
- Source documents are files and pages registered in the evidence registry. The 53 documents of the previous observatory are registered here by title; their files are attached by administrators as they are recovered. Every page of the Association’s website archive is also a source document.
- Evidence claims are statements extracted from documents and approved by an administrator; metrics are the numbers reported in them. Nothing appears on the public site before approval.
- Organisations are the owners and publishers of evidence: the Association, its members, NHS bodies, government, regulators and research organisations.
- Counts on the home page and the sources page reflect what you are allowed to see: public visitors see public evidence only; registered users and AMHP members see more.
Datasets carried over
Three NHS England datasets were registered in the previous observatory and are registered here: KH03 (average daily available and occupied beds, quarterly), the Mental Health Services Data Set monthly time series, and the NHS Oversight Framework quarterly trust performance and segmentation data (2025/26).
Licences
Every document carries its licence and jurisdiction. Public-sector material is typically under the Open Government Licence v3.0; the Association’s own publications are © Association of Mental Health Providers; datasets from Hugging Face are registered with their licence and, when it is non-commercial or unclear, kept for evaluation only.
